The Federal Investigation Agency, owned by the Ministry of Home Affairs of Pakistan, is responsible for border control, criminal investigations, counterintelligence and security operations governed by the field of espionage and terrorism of federal crimes, smuggling, infringement and other criminal acts. The Pakistani Constitution established the agency in 1974 and it was incorporated into the Department of the Interior. International operations led by the FIA are also carried out in close collaboration and coordination with Interpol. The agency has numerous branches and field offices in major cities in Pakistan and its main office in Islamabad.
